It’s no secret that I love Twitter Chats. And that I think it’s a great way to network. I have grown my “go-to” HR Pros by participating in regular Twitter chats. I’ve had a lot of opportunities come my way because of the people I’ve met through these Twitter chats. And then last fall at SHRMVLS, I found myself being an ambassador for Twitter and Twitter chats so much that I put together a list of chats to share (probably need to check & be sure it is updated).
I’ve also done a couple of talks on networking – which is still surprising to me as I don’t like traditional networking. But, you know, if you find something that works, you want to share it with others, right? Which is why I find myself headed to North Dakota next week to speak at their Workforce & HR Conference on networking. I combined and expanded my 2 DisruptHR talks on networking but still didn’t quite hit the 75 minute threshold for time in North Dakota.
I don’t like just sitting and listening for 75 minutes either, so I wanted to make this session interactive. I’ll have my easel paper & post-it notes and asking people what they like & dislike about networking, why it’s important (after all, I’m giving this talk again in Minnesota, so want to keep the info current!) But then I thought, the best way to learn is by doing and the best way to see how the interactions work in a Twitter chat is to participate in a Twitter chat. So I decided to host a short Twitter chat & get the #HRTribe to join in to show the attendees of my session how easy it is to participate in a twitter chat & meet new people from the comfort of being hidden behind a computer screen. #WorkforceAvengers
Join me Tuesday, September 18 at 4:15 p.m. at #WorkforceAvengers to meet some new folks and answer these 4 fun questions:
- Introduce yourself with your name and favorite superhero.
- Where are you joining us from? Where do you wish you were?
- Best conference you’ve been to and why.
- “Die Hard” is not a Christmas movie. Discuss.
